West Indies will be knocked out of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India if they lose to Scotland in today’s match in Harare.
West Indies are currently in fifth place on the Super Six points table during the ongoing ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They have zero points after two games.
Since Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka already have six points, West Indies won’t be able to catch them, if they lose today, in their remaining two games.
Oman, who are the bottom of the points table, are already out of the race for the mega event with three defeats in as many matches.
It must be noted that Zimbabwe, West Indies and the Netherlands qualified for Super Six from Group A, while Sri Lanka, Oman and Scotland progressed from Group B.
All points won against opponents that qualified from the group stage were carried forward. In the Super Six each team will play the sides they did not meet in the group stage and the top two will book their spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka took four points to the Super Six, while Scotland and the Netherlands bagged two points each. West Indies and Oman ended up with zero points.
West Indies have never failed to qualify for a Cricket World Cup before and won the first two editions of the tournament.
